Lobby

At the start of the game, you will find yourself in the lobby where you can see other players on the left and ongoing games on the right. In the middle there is a big chat area that you can use to talk with other players.

On top of the game area there are gaming options that you can adjust to your likings. Select an opponent from the player list on the left and then press the "Challenge Selected User" button. If the opponent accepts the challenge, the game starts. Other players can also challenge you. If you get challenged, it's shown above the chat area and you can choose to accept or decline it.

If you want to watch other people play, select an ongoing game from the list on right and press the button called "Watch Selected".

Playing for coins

You can also gamble with Backgammon, i.e. play for coins. In gambling mode both players will place a certain bet and the winner takes the whole pot.

If you want to play for coins, select the option "Play with coins" from the top of the game area, after which you can place the bet for the game. A little coin icon is displayed next to your name in player list to inform others that you area true gambler!

In this mode, you can only challenge players that place bets. too.

Game screen

Game board is loaded upon game start. Under the board is a chat screen you can use to talk with your opponent. Opponents with their remaining time to make their move are shown on left. On the right is a control panel containing variety of options depending on the game situation.

Both players see the game board with their home board aligned at lower-right edge, that is you always play counterclockwise.

Playing the game

The basic rules of backgammon is not described here. If you're not already familiar with the game, you can find the rules from Wikipedia, for example.

At your turn, first roll the dices with 'Roll' button. If 'Autoroll on my turn' is selected, rolling is done behalf of you and no 'Roll' button is shown. You can also roll by right-clicking on the game board.

There are couple of ways to make your actual move. The default is to first click the point that you want to move from and then click the point you want it to be moved into. If 'Automove (greater always first)' is selected, it's enough to only click the column you want to move from. Checker is then automatically moved the greater distance.

You can also move checkers by dragging them. Click the point you want to move from and drag-n-drop it to the point you want to move it to.

After you are done with your move, you must pass on the turn to your opponent by pressing 'Accept' button - or by right clicking the game board. Even if you cannot move any checkers, you must pass on the turn, unless you have turned on 'Autoaccept if can't move any' setting.

Time limit

There is a limited amount of time to make their move. If the time runs out, player's personal time (shown under player's profile) starts decreasing. If this, too, run out, player loses the game.

While time is reset for each turn, player's personal time is only reset at game start. This allows player to use a little extra time for difficult moves.

Doubling cube

A player holding the doubling cube can also ask to double the score and bet. First doubling can be suggested by either player, after that the doubling cube is given to another player and they can ask for next doubling.

If you want to double, make sure that 'Autoroll on my turn' is not selected. You'll then have a 'Double' option at the start of your own turn. Press the 'Double' option.

If either player suggest to double the bet, the opponent is asked to accept that - and when agreed, game score and possible bet is doubled and the doubling option is moved to the player who accepted the doubling. Please note that if the opponent doesn't accept doubling, he will lose the game immediately!

Greatest possible doubling factor is 64-times, after which even the player who is holding the doubling cube cannot try to double it. When playing for coins, it is also not possible to double the bet when either opponent has insufficient fund for doubling.
